Throwing the baby with the bath water
How can a Government that lauds Parliamentary Democracy
that has regular elections as its corner stone, announce the annual
election of the Cricket Board and then on the eve of it, postpone
it indefinitely. It begs the question whether the Minister’s
preferred group had defeat staring it in its face.
It is an open secret that money was playing a
dominant roll in the canvassing that led up to the election, but
the remedy must surely be elsewhere, rather than throwing the baby
with the bath water.
I am reminded of the 1982 Referendum that polluted
the electoral process. Then and now it is a clear instance of the
Government kicking the ball into its own goal. - Sidat
