‘Celebration
35’ for Lankika
Lankika Perera, female vocalist of Golden Chimes,
is celebrating her 35th years in the music field and with the Golden
Chimes.
She has joined the Golden Chimes on request made
by late Clarence Wijewardene in 1971.
Lankika is the only female vocalist in the scene,
who has been singing for 35 years with the same band. She has sung
many songs for her crdit such as ‘Kimada Nave’, ‘Molaketiputhuni’,
‘Malai Welai’, ‘Sandai Tharui’, ‘Bethlehem
Pure’, ‘Puthu Nidiya’i, ‘Sihina Sagare’,
‘Hiru Negila’ etc.
Her intention to celebrate and commemorate this
landmark of her musical career in a meaningful manner, as such she
proposes to stage a concert titled ‘CELEBRATION 35’
on 9 September at the Methodist College Auditorium at 7.00 p.m.
‘CELEBRATION 35’ will feature Annesley Malawana, Indrani
Perera, Anil Bhareti, Mariazelle Gunatilleke, Christine Gunawardene,
Keerthi Pasquel, Rajiv Sebastian, Sureshni Wanigasuriya, and Rukshan
Perera.
Musical backing will be by Chanaka and Golden
Chimes.
Faisal Bongso will compere the show while Solar
Heat led by Sanker will provide dancing sequences.
The show is presented by the Rawatawatta Methodist
Wesley Guild. All proceeds will be donated to Rawatawatta Methodist
Church Reconstruction Fund.
Tickets are priced at Rs. 1500/-, 1000/- 500/-,
300/-.
