|   All Island 
                          Children's Peace Art Competition 
                         The 
                          All Island Children's Art Competition was organised 
                          by the Lions Club of Nugegoda Central together with 
                          the Origami Folders Association of Sri Lanka. The objective 
                          of the competition was to motivate creative talent of 
                          children in Sri Lanka, to enable them to enter the international 
                          arena in participating in the 21st Children's Peace 
                          Drawing Competition organized by the Hiroshima Peace 
                          Memorial Museum of Japan. 
                         The paintings received were displayed 
                          at an exhibition. From these entries, 250 paintings 
                          were selected and sent to Japan for the 21st Peace Drawing 
                          Competition, which will be held later this year. 
                         A prize giving was held on September 
                          9, 2006 at the New Town Hall Auditorium and awards were 
                          presented to the three winners in each of the two age 
                          groups, 7 - 10 years and 11 - 15 years.  
                          In 
                          addition, ten outstanding entries in each group were 
                          also awarded prizes. Among the winners was Dilanthi 
                          De Tissera, from the Blind School, Ratmalana.
