SLMC: No decision yet on joining the Govt.

As government moves to reach a national consensus with main political parties contniue, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress said yesterday the party had not taken a decision on whether to extend support to the government though talks were continuing.

SLMC parliamentarian Basheer Segu Dawood said the party would join the government only after assurances were given on the security of the Muslims living in the north and east.

“The majority of the areas where Muslims live in the north and east are under government control and the government must be responsible for their security,” he said.
