The attempts made by political leaders
to resolve the ethnic conflict and the comments in the
Soulbury Commission on the ethnic issue have been brought
under closer review in the publication.
The Nehru – Kotelawala agreement
between former Premier Sir John Kotelawala, and Indian
Prime Minister Shri Nehru, the Bandaranaike –Chelvanayakam
pact, the Sirima-Shasthri pact, the Dudley- Chelvanayakam
pact, the 1987 peace accord signed by former President
J.R.Jayewardene and former Indian premier Rajiv Gandhi
and the Ceasefire Agreement are among the documents
reviewed. Bradman Weerakoon, former secretary to the
Prime Minister has written the foreword of the book
which would also be useful for those closely studying
the ethnic issue and for students of political science.
