National discussion
on industrial relations
The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC)
in collaboration with Emsolve Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. and sponsored
by the International Labour Organisation, is holding a national
level convention on industrial relations on November 9 and 10 at
the Water’s Edge, Battaramulla. The inauguration of this convention
will be held at the BMICH on November 8.
The EFC said that as resource material for the
convention, 25 enterprise-based case studies on employer/employee
relations have been published. These case studies, which review
and analyze employee relations strategies and practices in 25 private
sector establishments, chosen from a cross section ranging from
multinationals to family-owned businesses, will be the first of
its kind and should be of immense value to enterprise managers,
trade unionists and also policy makers.
The publication of the case studies was funded
by the Confederation of Norwegian Employers, with which the EFC
has had a technical co-operation arrangement over a period of time.
In addition to enterprise-based relations, the convention will address
national level industrial relations also under the theme “From
Confrontation to Collaboration”. Among the resource persons
will be two representatives from the Business Confederation and
the Trade Union Congress of the Republic of Ireland.
