STC Matale -Always in the forefront – Dr. Niyaz

“St. Thomas’ College – Matale has been in the forefront of sports activities having excelled in sports such as hockey, athletics, cadeting and cricket. This success in the sports arena could be attributed to the efforts and commitment made by coaches, players and prefects of games who guided the students on the right track to achieve such standards” so said Dr. S.M.M. Niyas Consultant Surgeon – District Hospital Matale at the colours award ceremony – 2006 of St. Thomas’ Matale held on Thursday October 26th at the college Auditorium where he was the chief guest.

“This school ranks first among Matale schools in producing several sportsmen of National fame during its 134 years of existence. On many occasions the sportsmen produced by this school have brought honour and glory to the college in particular and to Matale region in general.

Being an old boy of the College I am really proud of my ‘alma mater; which has the capabilities of producing talented sportsmen and genuine professionals in various disciplines.
