Peradeniya University wins IU Road race

Ninety three competitors from thirteen Universities took part in the Inter University Road Race which was won by the Peradeniya University athletes for the second year running.

This road race which is run over 10 kilometres had been dominated by Ruhuna University who triumphed six years in a row (until 2005). Peradeniya University fielded the same team as last year and duly repeated their conquest.

The terrain was difficult and, in consequence, the time was a bit slow. The road race was organized by the University of Sabaragamuwa and run on the Samanalawewa Road.

Kelaniya University came in second and once-triumphant Ruhuna placed third.
