Dhanuka excels in Bharatha
Natyam
Dhanuka Dhakshith Samaraweera, a year 12 student
of Gateway College Kandy, under the guidance of 'Natya Mayuri' Smt.
Lalithambigai Yogendran performs his sacred Arangetram at the Ananda
College Auditorium on the 12 November.
On this occasion he holds a special status as
the first student of his Guru to complete the Arangetram.
Dhanuka has achieved distinguished special performance
award for his skills in Bharatha Natyam, in the year 2004 from the
Kandy Music Society. Having performed for several years in many
Kalyana Ranga programmes, conducted by the Indo-Sri Lankan organization-Kalyana
SLICA, he has received many awards.
He has also displayed his talent in programs conducted
by Bharathiya Kala Kendra during the years 2003-2005. His flair
for Bharatha Natyam has brought him many first class passes in the
examinations held by North Ceylon Oriental Music Society. His versatile
skills were once witnessed by the nation when he embarked on a performance
in the 'Dimi Thaka Thaa' program hosted by Shakthi TV.
Dhakshith Samaraweera is the youngest son of Mr.
Hemapala and Mrs. Chulani Samaraweera.
He has an elder brother, Bojith Samaraweera and
sister, Jirushini Samaraweera.
