A simple, humble, Principal
Dear Madam, six months have passed
Yet our tears not dried,
That great lady Professor
Miss Chitra Wickramasuriya
Our ever beloved Principal
Of Sanghamitta Vidyalaya, Galle
Left us for ever
After a virtuous life of 88 years!
Ever dedicated to the students
Never conceited as a Principal;
A devoted Buddhist, of golden qualities
Then a young lady, humble and simple
Can never be forgotten
By grateful aged pupils
Scattered over the globe
Dear Madam pardon us sinners
Who couldn’t attend your funeral,
We fall at your feet
With gratitude and honour!
Your long green tie
Ever shines with pride
Honouring you in a dumb voice,
I see you, as a ‘Second Sanghamitta Theri’,
Dear Madam, may you be reborn.
As our dear Principal
And finally attain Nibbana!
