Anuradha Creates Rugby History at CR and FC

Anuradha Dharmatilleke from Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Maha Vidyalaya has been picked to lead the Ceylonese Rugby Football Club ‘A’ team in the forthcoming Caltex Year 2007 Season.

“His appointment by the CR and FC rugby committee has broken all barriers. It should be lauded, giving rural youth their rightful place on merit”, said Ravi Balasuriya the president of the CR and FC.

He started playing in the (under -15) provincial tournaments. His contemporary at Ruwanwella Thalagampola (now playing for Kandy) and many others benefitted, thanks to the development programme at grassroots level. In his fourth year at the CR and FC he takes over the captaincy from indefatigable Pavithra Fernando, who led by example.
