Capture the essesnce of Mount Lavinia Hotel

To conclude its 200th anniversary celebrations, the Mount Lavinia Hotel will hold a photographic competition open to all photographers in Sri Lanka. The contest is aiming at "the best shot" of the Hotel, capturing its two centuries of history, its romantic flair and mystery, and breathtaking settings, through the lens.

The awards are breathtaking: air tickets to Europe, Malaysia and India, gift vouchers from Kodak, hotel holiday and weekend vouchers, and many consolation prizes.

Participation is open to established amateur and professional photographers residing in Sri Lanka. The closing date for applications will be March 10, 2007. All applicants are requested to submit a letter, stating their full name, address, contact numbers, their affiliation with photographic associations, and their background and qualifications in photography. They must submit three sample prints (max. size 6"x9") of any of their work as well.

An expert group, appointed by the Hotel, will review the applications and select a limited number of qualifying participants. They will be notified and given the necessary details to capture the best view of the Hotel, each from their own artistic and creative angle, between March 13 and 25.

A panel of judges, chaired by the renowned Swiss photographer Beat Presser, will review the entries and select the winners, which will be announced on March 31 at an award ceremony held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. The best photographs will be exhibited at the hotel in April 2007.

Applications should be submitted to the PR Office, Mount Lavinia Hotel, 100 Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia. For more details, please telephone: 011 271 5221.
