G11 seeks trade pact with G8

SHUNEH, Jordan, Saturday (AFP) - Heads of state and representatives of 11 developing countries meet in Jordan today to draw up a platform of cooperation with the G8 industrialised nations and bolster multilateral trade. The G11 summit grouping Croatia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Georgia, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay and Sri Lanka meets on the shores of the Dead Sea on the sidelines of the Middle East World Economic Forum.

 
Sixteen dead in India mosque blast, protests

HYDERABAD, India, Saturday (AFP) - The death toll from a bomb attack on a mosque in southern India and subsequent clashes between police and Muslim protesters has risen to 16, officials said today. Police had earlier said that 10 people died from Friday's blast at the 17th-century Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad city and four others had been killed in the ensuing violent protests that prompted police firing. Two more people died from their injuries Saturday, officials said.
