Pakistan tightens security after mosque suicide blast

Pakistan boosted security today fearing further attacks a day after a suicide bombing during protests at Islamabad's pro-Taliban Red Mosque killed 14 people. Authorities were also investigating how the attacker was able to strike at a crowded market in the heart of the capital, the 13th suicide blast to hit the country since a bloody army raid on the mosque on July 10.

 
Howard under fire over doctor error

The Australian press on Saturday said the bungled prosecution of an Indian doctor allegedly involved in failed British car bombings was an error that undermined confidence in anti-terror laws. Newspapers said the evidence against Mohamed Haneef was flimsy at best, with several suggesting the prosecution was overzealously pursued for political reasons in the lead-up to a national election in Australia later this year.
