The inmates of a house allegedly thrown out of their dwelling, in the Alawatugoda area, by a gang were ordered by Kandy Chief Magistrate Harsha Setunge to return to their house under police protection, check their valuables and report to Court, Kandy Police said.
This follows an application made by attorney Kithsiri Seneviratne on behalf of Saja Umma who alleged she was thrown out of the house with her children by persons known to her and who also took possession of the house.
She alleged that when she went to complain to the Alawathugoda Police, she was driven away and when she went later with a lawyer, the lawyer was also chased away by the police.
Subsequently attorney Kithsiri Seneviratne on behalf of Saja Umma had complained to Deputy Inspector General Nimal Mediwake who instructed SSP Gamini Seneviratne to hold an inquiry and arrest the accused.
Chief Inspector D.Gurusinghe who was entrusted with the inquiry took into custody two persons. |
