Death sentence for Matale man

A man indicted for murder and robbery was sentenced to death by Kandy High Court Judge Nalin Perera. He was also sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

In this case H.M. Susil Samarakoon Herath of Ovilikanda, Matale was indicted on two counts for the murder of D. Hewage Jane Nona and the robbery of Rs. 9,622. The incident took place on November 13, 2002 at Mahakanmulla, Ovilikanda in Matale. There were 15 witnesses and eleven productions.

The Judge found the Susil Samarakoon Herath guilty of murder and on the second charge of robbery he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment..
