Rizana’s parents hopeful but no pardon in sight yet

Attempts to meet the family of the four month old infant allegedly strangulated by Sri Lankan housemaid Rizana Nafeek in Saudi Arabia, have been unsuccessful so far, delaying the chances of seeking a family pardon for the Lankan maid who has been convicted to death, sources based in Riyadh said. They said that the child’s family was reportedly on vacation and they had so far made no indication regarding a pardon for Rizana or meeting any Sri Lankan representative.

Rizana’s parents, who went with the Sri Lankan delegation to Riyadh last week were permitted to visit their daughter twice during their stay there. Now back in their village in Mutur they are hopeful that their daughter would be pardoned.
