Over 200,000 to sit A/L exam

Two hundred and thirty four thousand students are sitting for the Advanced Level examination this year which will start at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 3.30 p.m. each day, Examinations Commissioner Anura Edirisinghe said.“This year we changed the times but other than that, everything has been prepared to have a fair examination throughout the country,” he said.

189,000 of those sitting the exam are school applicants and 45,000 are private applicants sitting the exam which starts tomorrow. The Commissioner said question papers and necessary stationery have been sent to the North and East and all measures taken to hold the exam in those areas.

“We sent papers to Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Jaffna, Trincomalee and Batticaloa and the Zonal Education Directors of those areas confirmed to me that everything is ready to conduct the examination there,” the Commissioner said.
