‘Heidi’comes to TV

‘Samanala Wasanthaya’, a teleseries based on Johanna Spyri's children's classic ‘Heidi’ will be telecast every Saturday at 8.30 pm on Swarnavahini channel starting from August 4.

Produced by Remenzie Fernando, the thirty four episode teledrama series is directed by popular actress, Priya Ranasinghe. Johanna Spyri's story of Heidi, the girl from the Alps, became a world-wide success story the end of the 19th century and children do still like it today - as a book, as a radio play and as a movie. Heidi is by far most popular work of Swiss literature and has been translated from German into 50 languages, been filmed more than a dozen times, and more than 50 million copies of Heidi books have been sold world-wide.

'Samanala Wasanthaya', the Sri Lankan version is scripted by Bandara Jayathilaka and it stars Lakshman Mendis, Nilanthi Dias, Namel Weeramuni, Malini Weeramuni, Douglas Ranasinghe, Iranganie Serasinghe, Bimal Jayakody, Susantha Chandramali, Sarath Kulanga, Leonie Kothelawela, Deepani Silva and Buddhima Sewwandi, Milan Sampath, Sulekha Jayawardana and Akash Kodituwakku who play the children's roles.

In the technical crew Thisara Thulwan handled the camera, art direction by Manjula Ayagama and Asanka Neelawathura. Make up by J. Suranimala, assistant director Susiri Fernando.
