SLT-Maxis case put off for Nov
After a Supreme Court decision in June 2007 barring any further action on the proposed purchase of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) shares by Malaysian company Maxis Communications, the case which was originally set to come before court tomorrow has been postponed until November 22.
Sources close to the case say all parties have not filed objections and counter affidavits therefore could not to be filed. The case was called on Monday for objections and counter affidavits to be filed by mid October. The interim order, which was given preventing Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation of Japan from selling 25.3% of its total 35.2% stake in SLT, will be in operation until the end of the case. - (NG) |
