CID takes charge of
anti-UNP poster probe
A complaint about printing of anti-UNP posters has been handed over to the Criminal investigations Department, without any attempt by the local police to search the location where the posters were reported to be stored.
An employee of the Land Commission Department had lodged a complaint with the Kirullapone police saying he had overheard that 100,000 anti-UNP posters under the heading ‘Ejapayata Waranayak’ (Restraing order on UNP) had been printed and stored at the residence of Minister Karu Jayasuirya.
However the Police have summoned the complainant and questioned him for more than three hours. Kirullapone OIC Chief Inspector Marlon Perera said since the matter was related to a ‘political issue’ the CID had taken over the investigations. |
