Symposium on 'Ethics in Assisted Reproduction

A Symposium on 'Ethics in Assisted Reproduction' for medical and non-medical support staff will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 25 at the Main Lecture Hall, Faculty of Medicine, Kynsey Road, Colombo 8.

The symposium has been organized by the National Coordinating Committee on Reproductive Health Research in association with the Sri Lanka Medical Association and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.

The local resource persons are Prof. H.R. Seneviratne, Dr. Kamini Alahakoon and Mrs. Sumedha Wijeratne while the overseas resource persons are Prof. Ian Cooke and Dr. Richard Kennedy.

The topics that will be dealt with are: 'Ethical principles in medical practice'; 'Medical ethics in ART (service delivery, training and research)'; Case scenarios.

Institutions, centres and hospitals providing infertility treatment are requested to nominate medical, technical, nursing and other supporting staff to attend the symposium.
