Isipathana, St. Peter’s, St. Joseph’s and Wesley in Cup

The two day All Island Under 16 Twelve-a-side Rugby Tournament began at the Nittawela Stadium yesterday. The matches were worked off amidst short, sharp showers. However the conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm of the youthful players.

At the time of writing Isipathana, St. Peter’s, St. Joseph’s and Wesley had assured themselves of berths in the Cup competition. Trinity, too, were in contention having won their opening match against Embilipitiya MV by a big margin.

Group D - Dharmarajah bt Prince of Wales 5-0; Prince of Wales bt S. Thomas’ Prep 20-0.
Group E - Trinity bt Embilipitiya MV 32-0; C.W.Kannangara bt Embilipitiya MV 32-0.
Group F - Wesley bt Vidyartha 19-0; Wesley bt Piliyandala MMV 14-5.
Group G - St. Anthony’s drew with Science College 5 all.
Group H – D.S.Senanayake bt Maliyadeva 7-0; Thurstan bt Carey 12-0; Maliyadeva bt Carey 7-0.
