Sachintha Ruwanpathirana -- a year eight student of Colombo International School – Kandy Branch has bagged the third place of the under 15 age group at the Karate Kumithe championships 2007.
The Championship was organised by the Central Province Education Department.
The young Karateka stated his fighting career at the age of seven and in the seven years that he has been in the sport, has won many titles down the line including the Kudo Karate including the coveted ‘black belt’ (grade I) which was personally handed over to him by the inventor of the ‘Kodo’ system – Asuma Takashi at the age eleven.
Besides the above, Sachintha also won a ‘silver’ medal at the Nunokoshi Karate championships held in Mumbai early this year in the under 13 category.
He is a student of J.M. Mohideen who is the coach of Gateway International, Kandy.
