British Parliament has passed an Early Day Motion (EDM) last Monday congratulating Sri Lanka on its 25 years (Silver Jubilee) of Test Cricket from 1982 to 2007.
This comes in as a coincidence as Sri Lanka’s Tourism is in massive promotional drive in London at the World Travel Market (WTM).
Sports Tourism is one of the major sectors of the Sri Lanka Tourism drive and sports based tourism is seem to be the major attraction for the British leisure travelers.
Admire Tours (UK) Limited, the Official Tour Operator and Travel partner of the English Cricket Tour of Sri Lanka said this Early Day Motion at the British Parliament was made possible with the close association and persistent efforts of Brian Binley M.P. and Shashi Dhanatunge, the Managing Director of Admire Tours (UK) Limited.
Shashi Dhanatunge confirmed that there will be a group of British Parliamentary Researchers visiting Sri Lanka this December to play three friendly Cricket matches, visit a few Tsunami relief projects and also to watch the Test series between Sri Lanka and England.
He said the ‘House’ congratulates Sri Lanka on 25 years of Test cricket and 170 Test matches.
‘It is great to see how they have transformed themselves into a major cricketing nation and the House recognizes their achievement in reaching the 2007 Cricket World Cup Final and winning the 1996 World Cup Final. We wish both teams luck in the forthcoming Test series in Sri Lanka’ the motion stated. |
