Sorry… Mr. Warne your fangs are showing!

There is a local saying that one must never trust even a kitten born beyond the Bentara River. Well……now I have the feeling that it’s high time to dump that age old cliché and have a new one. I feel it should read as “never trust an Australian when it comes to cricket”.

Challenges have just begun for me

It is quite tough being a professional cricketer these days but this week I found that it was even harder to sit out a match, as Sri Lanka took on the Australians in the second test which began in Hobart, Tasmania on Friday. The first day has ended as I write and the Australians are strongly placed on 329 for three after Ricky Ponting won an important toss.

Sri Lanka sitting on a knife's edge
Luck played a decisive part for Sri Lanka to finish the day without losing a wicket after Australia thrived on their share of luck to post a wholesome 542 for 5 declared on the second day of the second and final cricket Test here at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart yesterday.

Atapattu considers Sydney relocation

Outspoken Sri Lankan batsman Marvan Atapattu is considering retiring from international cricket after the Hobart Test and relocating to Sydney to play grade cricket with the St George club. The Herald has learned that Atapattu held discussions with St George representatives between the first and second Tests regarding a possible move to Sydney. Should all go to plan, the former Sri Lankan captain would arrive in Sydney before Christmas and could be available for St George's round-nine clash with Gordon at Hurstville Oval.
