PAPS banks on quality
By Sanath Weerasuriya

Restaurants popup in every corner of the city, without much regards to the quality and hygiene. Food business has increased 100% in Colombo and suburbs to match the increasing demand of the people.
But very few places maintained the quality and standard of the cuisine and the service.

PAPS Restaurant at Nawala Road Koswatta is one of them. P Ariyakumara, the proprietor of the PAPS said, their motto is 'Quality' and he believes diners patronized mainly for good food and service and the price factor comes second in line.

‘The word 'PAPS' come from the initials of my name. Customer satisfaction is our return’ Ariyakumara said. 'PAPS', open from 9.00am to 11.00pm, serves lunch and dinner on takeaway basis of Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese cuisine in different preparations.

‘We have very limited dinning capacity. Only 12 people can have their meals at the restaurant and that's why we concentrate on takeaways’ he added. Being a Ceylon Hotels school Graduate, Ariyakumara has 30 years of hands on experience in hospitality industry. He was attached to the Ceylon Hotels Corporation as a senior Manager for eight years and he was the General Manager of Tissa Resort for six years.

Ariyakumara left CHC few years back to start his own brand PAPS culinary service. 'PAPS' has its outdoor catering unit too. ‘Our catering service covers parties, special events, seminars, corporate functions, weddings, garden parties and alms giving too' he added.

'PAPS' manages holiday bungalows belonging to People's Bank in Kataragama, Uda walawe, Anuradhpura and Devinuwara. 'The latest is our own resort 'Wana Hiwahana' will be open in Habarana soon' he said.
