Monkeys play havoc in Trincomalee town damaging roofs of houses, gardens and electricity supply. Monkeys are seen walking on the roofs of houses, stealthily plucking coconuts and fruits in home gardens. They interrupt the electricity supply in some areas when they tread on wires that supply electricity to households.
Residents are, therefore, forced to keep close watch on the movements of monkeys.
Monkeys in large numbers are seen in the shrub jungles of the Fort Frederick area in Trincomalee.
