Homes for ten less privileged families

An agreement to construct homes for ten families under the Kusum Nivasa Arunodaya housing scheme was signed between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and entrepreneur Palitha Samarasinghe who donated the construction costs of the houses.

The scheme was initiated under President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Mahinda Chinthana Programme but does not utilise Government funds. Mr. Samarasinghe donated funds to help the ten families living in the Pahala Ganmulla, Wallawwatta area in memory of his parents, following a meeting with the Housing and Urban Development Minister, Dinesh Gunawardena. Ministry Secretary Dr. P. Ramanujam and the Director of the Arunodaya housing scheme H.M. Dayananda were also present at the meeting.
