Three journalists of the London-based Channel 4 television were arrested at a checkpoint in Trincomalee and their visas cancelled, following charges that they had taken films that depicted the security forces in a negative light, police said.
They said Asia correspondent Paton Nick Walsh, producer Bessie Du and cameraman Matt Jasper were handed over to the CID and films in their possession were taken into custody for further investigations
The journalists are reported to have smuggled a video camera into a camp for the displaced people in Vavuniya and filmed the conditions there. The film was later broadcast on Channel 4. |
