The former British High Commission property in Kollupitiya remains unsold after the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of Britain put the property up for sale last year.
Navinda Samarawickreme of Schokman & Samarawickreme, the exclusive marketing agents selected to sell the 434 perches of waterfront land, told The Sunday Times FT this past week that the FCO has still not given them the go ahead regarding the sale. Almost 10 months have passed since the expressions of interest for the property were called for in June 2008 and closed in August 2008.
However, Mr. Samarawickreme said there were no problems regarding any of the bids but that the FCO has still not reached a decision. Approximately 12 expressions of interest from both foreign and local parties were received by August 2008. The property is located in a high security zone opposite Temple Trees and also adjoins the American Embassy. |
