Six persons were killed and at least 30 injured on Friday night when a Colombo-Kataragama private bus carrying 35 pilgrims crashed into a stationary lorry in Marakoloniya, between Hungama and Tangalle.
According to the Tangalle police, the speeding bus rammed into a parked lorry loaded with commercial gas cylinders.
Two persons were killed on the spot, and the injured were rushed to the Tangalle hospital, while the seriously injured were transferred to the Matara General Hospital and the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.
Four bodies were brought to the Tangalle hospital, according to a hospital source. |
