The school building of Nirmala matha Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in Kalpitiya in the Puttalam district is in a very dilapidated condition posing a threat to both teachers and students alike.
The plaster on the walls and roof peels off even as classes are being conducted.
Though work commenced in 1994 on the two-storey building measuring 100 ft in length and 25 ft in breadth, the structure has now been limited to a single storey. Students of five classes of Grades 7 and 8 are accommodated here. |
