French comedy ‘France Boutique’ revolving around a married couple running their own business directed by Tonie Marshall will be screened at 3 pm on June 2 and at 6.30 pm on June 3.
Played by Karin Viard and François Cluzet, the film shows the lives of France and Olivier who had been married for ten years now. Together, they have set up a TV-shopping channel - France Boutique - of which they are the two star hosts. A number of other people work with them: Estelle, an assistant host, naturally sexy, clear-sighted and hardworking; Yvan, another assistant host, torn between his inner nature and his eagerness not to make waves; Marcus, the director, brimming with enthusiasm for new ideas and the discovery of young actresses...
But they are constantly repeating themselves, surprising each other less and less, even when alone together… As for the company, there has been a definite slump in sales. They find a partner, an Internet company managed by Sofia who has one goal in mind: driving them to bankruptcy to get her hands on their airtime.
The sixth direction of Tonie Marshall, the film is so dominated by its sense of parody that it itself feels kitsch and shallow, with few, if any, of its characters having the space to give much more than a two dimensional impression.
