At the AGM held last Monday, at the Taj Samudra, Mrs. Amal Goonetilleke was unanimously re-elected as the Chairperson of the PATA Sri Lanka Chapter for the year 2009/10.
Also PATA Sri Lanka Chapter felicitated industry leaders on their achievements of being appointed to the PATA International Board.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (the parent body) is a body of leaders, striving to enhance growth, value and quality of Pacific Asia Travel & Tourism. It has a membership of over 2000 organizations. PATA has an international network of Chapters over 80 locations worldwide.
The PATA operations Headquarters is based in Bangkok. PATA has appointed Hiran Cooray of Jetwing as the Chairman elect PATA International. He will take over as Chairman of this prestigious world body in 2010.Manoj Gunawardena CEO of SriLankan, who is known for his commitment to Sri Lanka tourism has been appointed as a Board Director of PATA International for the year 2009.
Jayantha Panabokke – The Chairman Mahaweli Reach Hotel, a hotelier who has silently contributed his time and effort to Sri Lanka tourism was also appointed as Board Director of PATA International.
The PATA Sri Lanka Chapter consists of 63 members locally, comprising of travel agents, tour operators and hoteliers with business situated within the geographical area of the island.
Mrs. Goonetilleke is a senior member in the tourism industry with many years of experience. She is a Board member of the Sri Lanka Promotions Bureau, Vice President Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka and is the Vice President of the Colombo City Tourist Hotels Association. |
