I wish to be a princess
By Pavitra Pandithagedare

If I was a princess I would live in a castle with many facilities. My parents should be obeyed by every person in Sri Lanka. We can have huge parties in the castle and in the entrance of the palace there will be
soldiers standing smartly with their costumes.
My parents would help the poor people and keep our motherland peaceful. I would travel on carts where a horseman will be riding in front and in the castle there will be many maids who will make delicious meals and keep them on the garden tables. I wish my dream comes true someday.

They were also very beautiful. There were black, red, blue, green, orange and brown spots on them. Most children and teachers admired them.

On March 28, 2009,
I had my maiden Bharatha dancing show also called the Arangethram show. It was held at the Provincial Council Auditorium in Kurunegala.
My Bharatha
dancing master is Natyabhooshana Sri Jayantha Kumara Karunasekera. The chief guest was Prof. Carlo Fonseka, while our principal sir was the guest of honour. A lot of my relatives, teachers and friends attended it.
The function started at about 7 p.m. But dressing me commenced from about 3 p.m. I was taken to the hall by a Tamil band. After
conducting Nataraj Pooja by the Sami from Kuliyapitiya kovil, my ammi delivered the
welcome speech. Then I presented my dancing items. I wore four saris’ with matching jewellery and flowers. My thaththi sang two songs. It was memorable day in my life.
Gardening is my favourite form of exercise
By Aysha Nazar (9 years),
Ceylinco Sussex College
Gardening involves a number of different kinds of exercise, including stretching and lifting. A study showed that you can get good exercise by raking the lawn and trimming the trees and shrubs. Clearing bushes and stacking wood also
provides good exercise for the body, equal to a light aerobics class.
The 'yard care' tasks such as watering the lawn, mowing, trimming, raking, planting seedlings, weeding, clearing land, digging, tilling, laying the sod, all
provides exercise for the whole body. Apart from that, gardening is
beneficial for your
mental health too. For many people, it is a hobby.
Like other kinds of exercise, gardening can help to lower blood
pressure and cholesterol levels. It reduces
problems with heart
disease, diabetes and other diseases related to inactivity and excess weight.
I love my mother because…
By Teshani Attanayake (Grade 5),

I am here now because my
mother brought me into this world. She has brought me up with a
loving heart. If I go the wrong way, she advises me to go the correct way.
When I am sick, she sits by my bed. She always makes me happy and gives me tasty food. She stitches frocks for me and helps me to do my studies.
She is like a friend and teacher to me. She always tells us to be honest and helpful to others. She is the best mother in the world.

Peace
By Husna Jameel
(8 years),
Harrow International College
Just the sound of the word 'Peace' brings happiness to me. As
mentioned in the Oxford Dictionary, peace means a condition in which there is no war, violence or disorder. So we as children should start
showing that nothing is impossible, if we set our minds and also our hearts to do it, and bring peace into our lives and to others as well.
I hope with all my heart that peace will be the goal of the leaders of the world, where men of different colours and religions will live together in harmony. I also think that if we all demand for peace and destroy all guns and weapons of every nation. We could bring peace to every country as well.
So let all of us be united and work hard to achieve 'Peace.'
