UPFA supporters attack JVP Jana Hamuwa

JVP former councillor Sarath Chandrasekare and several others were admitted to the Hambantota Base Hospital after they were assaulted by a group of UPFA supporters, JVP MP Vijitha Herath said.

He said the attackers who were under the influence of liquor had stormed the ‘Jana Hamuwa’ organized by the JVP at Tissamaharama on Friday evening.

He alleged that more than 100 supporters of the UPFA threw lit crackers and assaulted those who were participating in the JVP parade, adding that the same group had attacked the Tissamaharama party office causing heavy damages.
