The year 2006 Sri Lankan Beauty Queen and Miss Universe candidate, Jacqueline Fernandez with her maiden role in cinema in the Hindi movie ‘Aladin’ has become the latest discovery of Bollywood.
Playing the role as Jasmin, Jacqueline makes her break through along with the
Bollywood giants like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Ritish Deshmuk. While Lankan beauty queen plays Jasmine, Ritish Deshmuk playing Aladdin and Amitabh Bachchan plays the genie.
‘Aladdin’, a film by the talented filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, is a modern re-imagining of the classic fairy tale packed with fun, music, action, romance and adventure which boasts of a visual scale never seen before.
Speaking about the movie based on the Arabian Nights fable about a Magical lamp she said, I’m really excited about working on it because it will be the first of its kind in Bollywood. The special effects will be done by the same people who worked on some of the Harry Potter, Matrix and Spiderman movies.
Awaiting release, the critics who have seen the movie had called Jacqueline the most exotic import Bollywood ever had. According to reports, Aladdin producers had been very protective of Jacqueline over the year when the film was in production fearing over exposure.
Director Sujoy Gosh said, it was felt that her being exposed to millions out there so soon would have resulted in an over exposure. Gosh further said, since Jacqueline is one of the four major protagonists of the film, other than Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Ritish Deshmukh, she has always been someone special.
Now is the time for her to reach out to the world and I am sure Bollywood followers out there would be stunned with what they see of her.
