The French comedy film ‘La Cité de la peur’ (Fear City: A Family-Style) will be screened at 3 pm on Tuesday, October 13 and 6.30 pm on Wednesday Ocotober 14 at the Alliance Francaise, Colombo-7.
Directed by Alain Berbérian in 1994. The movies parodies big budget American films (Basic Instinct, Pretty Woman and the Terminator, among others, are directly spoofed) and relies heavily on puns and wordplay, which makes it somewhat inaccessible for non-French speakers.
Ecstatic, Odile brings the movie’s mentally retarded star Simon Jérémi (Farrugia) to the festival and hires bodyguard and self-proclaimed womanizer Serge Karamazov (Chabat) to protect them.
One by one, all the projectionists assigned to the movie are murdered, keeping Red is Dead in the spotlight. Meanwhile, detective Patrick Biallès (Darmon) investigates on the murders and starts a romantic relationship with Odile. |
