The Sri Lanka Cancer Society will conduct an awareness programme today (October 18) on the hospice movement delivering pain and palliative care for the terminally ill.
The programme will be held at the Shantha Sevana Hospice premises next to the National Cancer Institute, Maharagama and will be attended by representatives of the WHO, supportive groups, volunteers, members of the SLCS, heath professionals and the public including carers.
Since its inception in 1948, the SLCS has been providing utmost care, treatment and relief to numerous cancer patients.
One of its major undertakings is the hospice which provides care and solace for those who have been diagnosed as terminally ill with cancer. |
