Shanuka’ double ton puts Bloomfield in box seat - Premier League Cricket

Shanuka Dissanayake cracked a career best 205 to put Bloomfield in the box seat against Badureliya CC on day two in their Premier Tier ‘A’ encounter at Reid Avenue.

Shanuka’s double ton came off 304 balls and included 22 boundaries and two sixes. The knock along with half tons by Chamara Silva, Tharaka Gunaratne and Sanjaya Gangodawila helped Bloomfield, resuming from their overnight score of 68 for 1, to amass a massive 491 for 7.

Shanuka was also associated in a 187 run partnership for the second wicket with Tharaka Gunaratne who chipped in with a knock of 56.This was after restricting Badureliya CC to 183. It was Shanuka who did the damage by taking 5 for 29.

Badureliya CC batting the second time was 41 for 2 still needing 267 runs to avoid an innings defeat. Badureliya CC 183 (Hemantha Wickramaratne 62, T.N. Amal cracks career best 153

Chilaw Marians opener Amal Athulathmudali cracked a career best 153. This helped the Marians amass a massive score of 442 from their overnight score of 391 for 7. Colts in their turn made a bold reply making 286 for 6 on day two in the encounter at the Colts ground.

Amal’s knock took him just 127 balls which had eight boundaries and nine towering sixes. He along with Mahela Udawatte (who played second fiddle) gave the Marians a flying start by putting on a partnership of 201 runs.

Lahiru Thirimanne and Malinga Bandara steered Ragama CC by making half tons which enabled Ragama CC to end the day on a formidable 347 against NCC at the NCC ground. NCC in their turn of batting were 247 for 5, with young Dinesh Chandimal making an unbeaten knock of 124.
