Methodist College holds inaugural colours night

When someone performs exceptionally well in any given field, the purpose of presenting an award is for felicitation and for further encouragement that an award is given. Thus, noting remarkable achievements Methodist College held its inaugural Colours Nite on December 8, at the College Auditorium.

Apart form the presentation of these awards, another highlight of the evening was the valuable speech by the chief guest, Mr. Dian Gomes. Taking examples from what he had witnessed in the world boxing arena, he spoke to parents and athletes alike, reminding them never to forget that ‘defeat’ is an inevitable part of any game and the key to success is never to give up. This mindset becomes very important when you watch eight to nine years of training lost in a single eight minute match and so Mr. Gomes’ inspired all present that day to never be discouraged and to keep persevering.

At an event such as this, it is not only the achievement of the athletes which is recognised, and so Methodist College wishes to also acknowledge the driving forces behind the students that comes in the form of teachers, coaches and parents as well.
