Rich haul by karate team |

The Sri Lanka Karate team which participated at the North Asian Karate Championships in Kanpur, Kerala, India bagged 15 gold, 15 silver and two bronze medals.
The team headed by Gihan S Samaraweera participated against competitors from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia and several other countries.
The championships were organized by the Okinawa Karate Organization and the Indian H. Riyu Karate Organization.
The following bagged medals for Sri Lanka at the meet: HA. Suresh (3 golds); Sampath Wijeratne (2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze); AA Imesh Udyanga (2 golds); VA Salini Hasantha (1 gold, 1 silver); Dilinika Maduwanthi (1 gold, 1 silver); GKA Bandara (1 gold, 1 silver); DL Udyanga (1 gold, 1 silver); AA Nimal Shantha (1 gold, 1 bronze); Sashini Imesha (1 gold); CM Samarapala (1 gold); AAM Jayasinghe (1 gold); Oliver Ariyapala (1 silver); Hemachandra Athugala (1 silver); CM Sugathadasa (1 silver); CS Gunawardena (1 silver); Samantha Lakruwan (1 silver). |
