Voters at Tuesday’s Presidential Election must prove their identity by producing a valid photo identity card at the polling stations.
The following identity documents will be accepted at polling booths:
- National Identity Card issued by the Department of Registration of Persons.
- Valid passport.
- Valid driving licence
- Government Pensioner's ID card
- Senior citizen’s ID card
- ID Card issued to the clergy by the Department of Registration of Persons
- Temporary ID cards issued through the Department of Elections for the Provincial Council Elections (the card will be-revalidated and re-issued to holders though Grama Niladharis)
Temporary IDs issued by the Department of Registration of Persons will also be accepted.
No identification document other than those specified above will be accepted. Voters who cannot prove their identity will not be issued ballot papers. |
