Local tertiary level education provider, the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), announced recently that it will be offering its first Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, in Business Management, jointly conducted with UK's Sheffield Business School; a part of long-time associate Sheffield Hallam University.
The BBA degree, which is said to include "in-depth knowledge in areas such as quality management, strategic marketing, international business and managing the development and implementation of information systems effectively"; also promises to go beyond just teaching subject matter, to emphasising employment skills such as a strong focus on English, according to SLIIT's Head of Business and Information Management, Dr. Theekshana Suraweera: “This course is not entirely theoretically focused. It provides a more practical approach where students go out and gain first-hand experience in the field, enabling them to identify future needs and progressively contribute to the improvement of these issues”.
Further, according to a SLIIT statement, "[upon] completion, [BBA graduates] are eligible to apply for work permits in the United Kingdom or for scholarships to pursue a Masters degree in their chosen field of specialisation". |
