UNCASVILLE, Connecticut, Jan 29, 2010 (AFP) - Unbeaten Devon Alexander and Colombian Juan Urango will fight on March 6 in a light welterweight title unification bout, promoter Don King said Friday.
Alexander, who owns a record of 19-0 with 12 knockouts, will make his first defence of his World Boxing Council belt against reigning International Boxing Federation champ Urango.
Alexander, 22, hasn't fought since stopping Britain's Junior Witter in August to claim the vacant WBC title.
Urango, 29, brings a record of 22-2-1 with 17 knockouts to the bout. His only two defeats came to former champion Ricky Hatton in 2007 and current welterweight title holder Andre Berto last May.
In August, Urango returned the light welterweight ranks with an 11th-round stoppage of Randall Bailey. |
