Daintee Ltd has recently diversified from its traditional confectionary to marketing a breakfast cereal range designed to satisfy a growing consumer demand. Daintee has come out with kurakkan and maize based products which the company says will provide an impetus to Sri Lanka’s agricultural economy.

A press release stated that Kurakkan Crunch has won the 2008 Pro Food award for best product of the year and best product of the year with raw material. The company says it is highly sought after by consumers controlling their blood sugar.

Kurakkan Crunch is a 100% kurakkan product which does not contain any preservatives or artificial colours and flavours. Similarly, Daintee’s corn flakes is a 100% maize product which also does not contain preservatives, artificial colours or flavours and is fortified with vitamins and minerals.

The Grain Flakes 40+ product is a combination of kurakkan and green gram. According to the press release, it provides a balanced breakfast for the health conscious. This product too does not contain artificial colours and flavours and was awarded the prize for product of the year with local raw materials at the 2009 Pro Foods exhibition.
