‘We believe, We achieve, We win’ - new theme for SLIM

The new President and Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) have begun their tenure of office with the new theme, ‘We believe, We achieve, We win’, to enhance the image of SLIM by adding value to services, said a press release from the institute this week.

The vision of the new SLIM Committee is to lead the nation’s efforts towards economic prosperity and its mission is to establish marketing as the driving force to enhance business and national value, said SLIM.

Headed by President Rohan Somawansa, SLIM’s new joint Vice Presidents are Thushara Perera (Director Marketing, TV Derana) and Tilan Wijeyesekera (General Manager - Marketing, Lanka Milk Foods PLC). The new Council of Management will also include Gamika de Silva (Secretary), Siddeeque Akbar (Treasurer), Kalana Ratnayake (Asst. Secretary), Saliya Weerasekera (Immediate Past President) and Nimal Wirasekera (Executive Director).

The other Committee members are Harshini Amarasekara, Dhanesh Jayathilake, Karthik Elangovan, Charitha Jayasinghe, Prasad Hewagama, Shenali Wickramaarachchi, Ranjith Edirisinghe, Upul Adikari, Ruwan Liyanagamage and Thilanka Abeywardena.

Outlining SLIM’s main objectives for the year ahead, Mr Somawansa said the plan was two pronged – education and projects, both of which will be supported by a strong marketing drive.

SLIM will also be re-structuring its education and marketing divisions and will launch PCM in Sinhala for the state sector, small, and rural entrepreneurs. The SLIM coaching centre network will also be expanded.
