French cinematic creation ‘Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé’ (Not Here to be Loved), a film on a romantic relationship between two middle-aged adults will be screened at 3 pm on Tuesday, June 29 and at 6.30 pm on Wednesday, June 30 at the Alliance Francaise, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.
Directed by Stéphane Brizé, the entertaining film revolves around a budding romance between Jean-Claude, laconic 50-year-old process server and forty-year-old woman Françoise. As they meet each other in a tango lesson class, a love story about grown-up people and their romance unfolds with intelligence and hidden passion.
Neither of Jean-Claude (Patrick Chesnais) and Françoise (Anne Consigny) is happy with their lives, Jean-Claude with his jobs as law enforcement officer making a court-ordered seizure, and his weekly visits to ill-humoured father (veteran Georges Wilson) and Françoise with her fiance preoccupied with his book, and her officious mother. Following advice from the doctor, Jean-Clause decides to take tango lesson (and the classroom is actually across the room where Jean-Claude works every day). In this class he meets Françoise who happened to be daughter of his old acquaintance and as they dance together, they find themselves attracted to each other. |
