Union Assurance recently embarked on one of its most ambitious social services projects, an all-island aesthetic competition and cultural show named 'Pasalen Karaliyata'. Comprising of folk dancing, singing and art competition held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education for the 3rd successful year.
This initiative was designed to identify and recognize the innate talents of gifted school children around the country and foster the development of local dance and music. The 'Pasalen Karaliyata' cultural show will be conducted in the North & East for the first time this year.
Over 50,000 children from over 19 districts have participated in the competitions over the years. The Theme for this years Pasalen Karaliyata is "Yahapath Purawaseyek behi kereme Jathika Mehewara" building a respectful citizen is the objective of the program.
Each year the programme conclude with a national cultural show graced by top officials from the Ministry of Education and senior management from Union Assurance. The award distribution also takes place simultaneously. These efforts are a part of the company's endeavors to arrest the decline of our cultural arts and aesthetic skills as sufficient attention is not being paid to these subjects. In an effort to preserve our cultural heritage for future generations, Union Assurance also plans to create societies in participating schools that will continues these cultural and aesthetic activities.
The 'Pasalen Karaliyata' programme came with rich rewards for the winners and the schools they attend. Not only have the first, second and third place winners received awards for their achievements, their school were awarded cash with the intention to uplift the esthetic facilities. |
